This is a very accessible resource which provides a good
benchmark from which personal perspectives on Relationships and
Sexuality Education can be explored and developed.
The concept of an on-line resource is very useful in that it can be made available to a wide audience and can be modified as the subject develops.
The team have brought together a useful tool for all those planning
or delivering Relationships and Sexuality Education.

Sexual health is central to people's lives - yet sexual
health does not always receive the same level of attention as physical
or mental health. As a consequence of being a low health priority,
health professionals and youth and community workers do not always
have access to training opportunities. This programme will help
to fill this gap and play an important part in addressing the inequalities
in sexual health that exist in Northern Ireland.

The Northern Ireland Practice and Education Council
for Nursing and Midwifery (NIPEC) is a Non Departmental Public Body
established in October 2002 with a remit to support the professional
development of nurses and midwives, through promoting high standards
of practice, and high standards of education and training for the
nursing and midwifery professions. It is therefore within our remit
to offer feedback on the development of the aforementioned e-learning
programme on sexual health, as the modules have the potential to
be accessed by health care professionals i.e. school nurses in discussion
with young people about sexual health issues.
I have been very impressed with the content of
the learning programme, in particular the clarity and conciseness
of approach and the visual attractiveness of the modular format.
Having been involved in planning, developing and facilitating e-learning
modules, I am very aware of the challenges of creating a learning
resource that is appealing and accessible, as well as offering a
quality learning experience for those taking part. I believe
this programme of six modules provides appropriate variety of content,
offers clearly defined learning outcomes, and provides an interesting
mix of information, exercises, discussion and reflective time.
